Location: eShop → Emails

There are 2 basic email types within eShop:

  1. Emails automatically sent out to the customer when a transaction is completed successfully
  2. Emails that can be manually sent out to the customer via the eShop → Orders page

Automatic Emails

If you do not set up and activate a merchant gateway specific email template, the Automatic default email will be used in all cases.

If you create and activate an gateway specific template, this will be used for successful transactions made via that gateway. This allows you to send out different automatic emails for different payment methods.

Admin Order emails

These emails are never sent out automatically. They exist to allow shop owners/managers to send out emails to their customers, when required, without having to re-type the same messages over and over again.

To send out an email, navigate to eShop → Orders, select the customer you want to contact and click on their email address. You can now add to, or amend, the email before sending it.

Creating/Amending Email Templates

Navigate to eShop → Emails and select the template you wish to create or amend. The template tags that you can use in the email are listed at the bottom of the page. These tags will be replaced by the relevant details for the customer, or their order, when the email is sent.

Email From Addresses

Automatic emails

Use the eShop From email address as configured in Settings → eShop

Admin form emails

Use the Available business email addresses as configured in Settings → eShop. If you have entered more than 1 email address, you will be to chose which address to use from a dropdown when composing each email. If you have not entered any email addresses, the eShop From email address will be used.

Customer Registration

eShop uses the standard WordPress registration functions for customer sign-up, so all registration emails will use wordpress@example.com. If you wish to change this email address, we recommend using a separate plugin such as New User Email Set Up.
