I was looking for a very simple twitter feed plugin a while back but couldn’t find one that suited my needs. So I built one…

eJS Twitter adds a Twitter feed widget to your site. It’s as lightweight as possible with minimal configuration needed to get it up & running.

It’s also compatible with WordPress 3.2 and translation-ready. Support available via the Quirm.net forums.

eCookie Warning Plugin

There has been some concern raised about the new European Union regulations regarding cookies and how this might impact upon WordPress.

One of the area where this legislation might impact upon WordPress sites is at the point of registration when a cookie is set on the new user’s machine. In order to address the problem, I’ve put together a quick plugin – eCookie Warning – which adds a warning to the WordPress Registration form.

Unfortunately, I’m just about to start my summer vacation, so if you do have any comments on the plugin, please save them until I get back in about 10 days time. In the meantime – enjoy!

Just a quick post to let you know what’s happening for the next release. I’m doing a much needed over haul on the settings pages. This is to give it a better aesthetic look, but also to improve usability.

However I won’t be releasing this one for a while, which I’m sure you’ll be relieved to here after the recent flurry of necessary updates because of some errors that crept in!

Also if anyone reading this has yet to rate eShop over on WordPress.org then all ratings would be welcomed! Feel free to also click the Works/Broken after any release, but please do remember to leave a message of why it was broken if you have cause to use that. I always do my utmost to fix problems as soon as I can, which I can only do if I know what the issue is!

At the time of writing eShop has been downloaded 143,527 times. Obviously this is spread between versions, but even so it is an impressive amount – so a big thank you to everyone that has downloaded it.

On a side note I deleted a lot of the old versions of eShop, but if anyone needs a copy of a particular version, just ask on the forums and I’ll sort out a copy for you.

eShop 5.6.0 Released

It’s been a long time since so much was added and changed within eShop. This release was due at the end of the week, but a bug was found in the checkout, so I’ve released it a little early.

Details of the changes:

Added

ability to hide the addtocart shortcode, so that it is only available to site members.
ability to set a min/max purchase quantity (affects all products)
ability for developers to test authorize.net with their test account.
New merchant gateway, duplicate of Cash, called Bank. As with Cash this can be renamed to whatever you would like.
South African Rand & Bulgarian Lev to the available currencies.
More strings that can be translated (email templates specific)

Fixes

ability to display and use more than one add to cart form on a single product.
Major bug in checkout shipping calculation when shipping is set per State/County/Province

Other Changes

UPDATED stock control has been updated and now is available per option (will not be available for option sets)
eshop_details shortcode – stockqty is now part of options, and not a separate item, but can be hidden.
when in test mode sales are now restricted to eShop admins only.
A message is now visible on all pages for eShop Admins only when in test mode.

eShop and Stock Control

The next release of eShop will have a significant change to Stock Control. It will go from being per product, to per product option. The upgrade routine should ensure that nothing breaks, and all products remain in stock by allocating the product stock amount to the product option stock amount.

I can provide access to a beta version for anyone that wants, just post in the forums.

Several people have attempted this in the past, and sent me their code, but every time they have I always find several quirks, or even missing functionality, that meant I could never use it. However the last one sent to me was close enough. Close enough to help me when I started to code things… even though I ended up utilising very little of what was was actually sent.

I won’t be releasing this as yet, as I have a couple of other things that I have been contacted about and will include these in the next release as well. Keep an eye out for 5.6.0!

eShop checkout customisation

With the release of eShop 5.5.5 I have finally managed to add in the ability to customise the checkout. Fields can be added, processed, and displayed where needed (order screen and email). However this still isn’t for the faint hearted, as it involves at least 10 scripting steps. But the most important thing is that these customisations will not affect the core eShop code or your ability to upgrade the plugin as, and when, needed.

then download the beta version now! Enhanced for WP3.0 but will hopefully still work in 2.9.2, though they’ll lose out on some of the new features:

Customers can get automatically signed up to WordPress, and be able to see their order history.
New Shipping option – ship by weight

I’ve still got to tidy up a few things, and squash a few little bugs, but feel free to download and give it a try, especially if you are on WP3.0!
