Activating A New WordPress Theme

I’ve just downloaded a new theme and want to apply it to my WordPress blog. What do I have to do?

If you’ve downloaded the theme to your own computer:

Unpack the theme on your local machine.
Upload the complete theme folder to wp-content/themes on your server using FTP (or whatever file manager is available on your hosting account.
Login to the WordPress Dashboard and navigate to Appearance/Themes
Select your new theme
If the display in the popup window looks, OK, activate the theme (link in the top right of the popup window)
If the display in the window is blank, do not activate the new theme. It’s almost certainly incompatible with your version of WordPress.

If you’ve downloaded the new theme via Appearance/Add New Themes in your WordPress Dashboard, skip straight to Step 4.
